Estate No. 9: Peranakan Festoon Garland Necklace

free shipping in Singapore

The festoon garland necklace was a signature style of the Edwardian era, where light, open floral work was favoured amongst the European elite. In colonial Malaya, a distinct Peranakan version of the garland necklace gained popularity among wealthy Nyonya brides in the early 20th century.

This 1950s garland necklace, likely commissioned for a Peranakan bride’s wedding, features open knife-edge work, draping swags, and freely swinging flower drops. Jade cabochons have been nestled throughout the piece, adding colour and depth to the necklace. It can be worn in two ways: as is or just by the chain itself.

The Estate Collection encompasses antique jewellery pieces thoughtfully restored to reflect our stories across time and continents — to honour history, to shape the present, and to hold space for what’s yet to unfold. Each piece is the only one of its kind in the world. Read more about the Estate No. 9 here

How to Care

Small steps can go a long way. Avoid contact with liquids and store your jewellery in an air-tight bag. Cleaning it after use with our polishing cloth also works magic in preserving the lustre of your Jade. We recommend you read our full guide here.

The Nature of Jade

The beauty of jade lies in its organic nature; no two pieces are identical. For every design, our jade can range from pale green, to dark green, and even to pieces that exhibit several colours in it. The pictures you see are some examples of the many colour variations we have. This inherently unique characteristic makes each piece of jade jewellery truly distinctive and exclusive to the wearer.
