Earlier this year, our Marketing Maverick traipsed off to the Land of the Rising Sun for a whole two weeks. In this post, Tessalyn shares with us her lovely pictures, favourite memories, and handy tips to all you lucky upcoming travellers!
Tessalyn and Daniel kickstarted their Japan trip with four full days of skiing down slopes in Nagano, before continuing their journey onwards to Tokyo, Kawaguchiko, and Kyoto.
The cold air and short winter days didn't stop them from making the most out of their vacation and simply appreciating the change in environment and culture.
Here's what Tessalyn divulged when we probed her about her Japan trip!
My most memorable experience was..... seeing Mt Fuji from my ryokan
I had my best meal at..... a yakitori place with their own handmade sauce which i bought 3 bottles of!
If I went back to Japan I would revisit.... Tokyo because I found my favourite ramen there.
I wish I knew before I left for my trip that..... I would not be able to buy anything because it's winter there, and that the shinkansen would leave on the dot and we would need to turn up early or else we would miss our train.
My tip for other travellers is to.....
be prepared to put on some weight if you love japanese food! Also, do make it a point to try a tempura restaurant in Japan because it's so different from the ones we have in Singapore. They deep fry their seafood in sesame seed oil so it's a lot healthier (and tastier!). And please go snowboarding... we don't have snow in Singapore and it's really an experience fit for all ages - including kids as young as 4!
Inspired by the Japanese culture and their iconic Sakura flower, we bring you our latest Sakura collection
which translates these blooms into permanent arm candy for your jewellery chest.
